The best part of running this gym is watching the same families come back every year. There are families from Northern California who plan their February trip around our schedule. There are families from Spokane who bring the kids and grandkids in on the way to the beach. There are regulars from Los Angeles who need a real squat rack in between meetings back home. There are couples from Vancouver who started with a single visitor pass six years ago and now know half the front desk on a first-name basis.

Why Visitors Love MPHG
Hotel gyms are fine for a shakeout jog on day one. By day three you already know the drill. One squat rack shared with an entire tower of guests, a stack of rubber dumbbells that top out where your warm-up starts, a treadmill with a view of a treadmill. Fine, but not really a gym.
MPHG Lahaina is the closest real gym to Kaanapali, about seven minutes south down Honoapi‘ilani past Wahikuli and into Lahaina Gateway. Hammer Strength racks, real dumbbells and plates, hot saunas in both locker rooms, and a floor full of actual humans instead of one lonely front-desk badge reader. You walk in as a guest. You leave feeling like you got the local’s Maui, not the postcard version.
The best part is what happens on visit number two. You’re not a room number here. Somebody at the desk recognizes you. Somebody in the sauna asks where you’re from. By the time you fly home, you’ve traded a few nods with the regulars and picked up a couple of restaurant recommendations that aren’t in any travel guide. This is the community that loves you back, and it works the same whether you’re in for the week or in for the year.
What You Get on Your Visitor Pass
- Hot saunas after your beach day. One in each locker room, no timer, no add-on charge, no resort spa hours. Sit in the heat until your shoulders finally unclench.
- Full showers and locker rooms. Rinse the sunscreen and sand off, change into dry clothes, drive back to the hotel without the rental car marinating.
- Gym towels included so you don’t have to bring one from the pool.
- 24/7 staffed access. Front desk is open around the clock. Lift at four in the morning before a snorkel trip, or at ten at night after dinner.
- Real dumbbells, not the resort’s twenty-pound rubber set. Hammer Strength racks, plates, benches, cables, the whole floor.
- Enough squat racks that you won’t stand in line waiting on somebody’s phone call between sets.
- Actual humans on the floor. Ask for a spot, ask where anything is, ask about the best plate lunch in Lahaina. Somebody will know.
- Kids Week pass so the teenagers can lift alongside you instead of doomscrolling in the room.
From Kaanapali to MPHG Lahaina
About 5 to 7 minutes south on Honoapi‘ilani Hwy (Route 30) from the Sheraton, Whalers Village, Hyatt Regency, Westin, and Marriott. We’re at Lahaina Gateway on your right as you head into town.

Which hotels are you closest to?
Everything on the Kaanapali strip is a quick cruise south. Sheraton Kaanapali, Westin Kaanapali, Hyatt Regency, Marriott, Whalers Village, the Kaanapali Alii, and the Royal Lahaina all sit between five and seven minutes from our front door on Honoapi‘ilani Hwy. Point south, cruise past Wahikuli Wayside, hop off at Lahaina Gateway.
Do I need to reserve ahead like at the resort spa?
Nope. Walk in whenever, pick your pass at the front desk, and you’re on the floor five minutes later. No booking window. No fitness intake form. No sales pitch waiting between you and the racks. Same drop-in whether it’s six in the morning or ten at night.
What if I only need a couple of days?
Grab the Two Day pass at $45 and it covers two workouts across your trip, back to back or split around beach days. Single Day at $25 works if you only want one session. If you know it’s going to be three or more workouts, the Week pass at $80 pays for itself pretty fast. Pick the pass that fits the trip.
Can I bring my teenager?
Absolutely. The Kids Week pass is $50 for anyone 18 and under, good for the whole week. Teenagers who are ready to lift alongside you are welcome on the floor. There’s also a kids club on site if the younger ones need somewhere while you knock out your hour.
Do you have towels and lockers or should I bring my own?
Everything you need is here. Gym towels are included with every visitor pass. Full locker rooms with showers on both sides, plenty of lockers, no lock rental. Two hot saunas as well, one in each locker room, so you can chase your workout with a real heat session before the drive back to Kaanapali.
